Nikolaus Johnson
MS, LPC-S, RPT-S, EMDR Consultant
As a counselor and play therapist, I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for all meaningful work in the therapy room. Healing is a multidimensional process it unfolds through shifts in thought patterns, emotional awareness, physical wellbeing, relationships, systemic influences, biology, and spirituality. I believe lasting change happens when we take a holistic view of the person. Only by understanding the whole self can we truly transform behaviors, relationships, and family dynamics.
My clinical focus is on helping people get unstuck and create lasting change. I specialize in complex trauma, dissociation, and attachment related challenges in essence, I work to understand the deeper “why” behind the things we do, even when they don’t serve us, and how to shift those patterns. I integrate a variety of evidence-based approaches, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), family therapy, play therapy, and more, tailoring each approach to meet the unique needs of my clients.
Finding a therapist you can trust for yourself or your child can feel overwhelming. If we meet and it doesn’t feel like the right fit, I’ll gladly help you find someone who is. If you're a caregiver of a child in therapy, know that your involvement is essential. Working with a child without including their caregiver is like wiping down a table while leaving the rest of the room in disarray. We’ll work as a team to support your child’s growth and healing.

EMDR Intensives
$600 for a 4 hour intensive
For clients seeking deeper, faster progress, EMDR Intensives offer extended therapy sessions focused on healing and resolution. During this four-hour intensive, we will work together to target and reprocess difficult memories, reduce emotional distress, and strengthen adaptive beliefs using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy. Intensives allow for deeper work without the time constraints of traditional weekly sessions, helping you move forward more quickly and effectively. This format is ideal for individuals who want to address specific issues, accelerate their healing, or fit therapy into a busy schedule. All intensives include a customized treatment plan, targeted EMDR reprocessing, and post-session resources for continued support.
Nik only does EMDR intensives with those 18 years and older, since he has found that weekly hour long EMDR therapy sessions are a more ideal format for children and teens.
Unfortunately EMDR intensives are not covered by insurance due to the length of the session.
EMDR intensives are four hours long, and the cost is $600

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy intervention that helps us digest what traditional talk therapy does not.
EMDR pairs eye movements (or other methods) with the imagine, beliefs, emotions, and sensations from an event, gently allowing us to not only lower distress, but also allows us to put the event into the context of our own stories.
Nik is EMDR Certified, an EMDR Consultant, and provides advanced trainings on EMDR to professionals in the mental health field.

IFS allows the client's internal system and parts of self to heal, and learn to work together as the client grows in self leadership.
